Each year I embark on a PC building project, Check out this post for a gallery of my other recent custom PC setups.

This year I am building a [not so strictly] small form factor [SFF] build. I use that term due to the volume of the case - it is somewhat higher than most ITX cases and for that reason some of the hardcore enthusiasts over at /r/sffpc may well not approve of it being labelled as SFF.

My first port of call is always to choose a case. This post will detail that initial stage - my selected case, and I will document my build process in the coming months.

The Case: InWin A1 Plus

My first impressions of this case are that it is the slickest looking, most solidly built and close-to-perfect iteration of a computer case that I have ever had the pleasure of getting my hands on.

: InWin 80 Plus Gold PSU. 650W is more than plenty to run any high-end rig.

The PSU has all the regular [non-modular] connections, including 3 x SATA power, dual 8-pin PCI-Express connectors, along with the standard 24-pin ATX power connection.

InWin A1 Plus: Aesthetics

: The InWin A1 Plus is not too bulky & looks great - even on a white desk.

The white version of this near completely-metal case looks fantastic. I had worries of a clash akin to a white on white fashion faux pas. I should note that I have yet to set this up to take a more in-depth look at the PSU cabling and built-in RGB lighting config beneath the transparent stand.

InWin A1 Plus: Wireless Charging

: The A1 Plus features a Qi 1.2 10W charging panel for charging your phone..

I am looking forward to the wireless charging feature in particular - drop your smartphone or any Qi enabled device on the InWin logo located on the top of the case to charge it [it will also charge your device even when the PC is not switched on].
